On the way enjoy the beautiful drive through the scenic landscapes as you make your way to the Sani Pass. You’ll have a chance to take in the lush hills and valleys along the route.
You will be heading to Underberg and when we arrive you will have some time for a comfort stop and get through the passport paperwork. Here you will also meet your tour guide. You will need to transfer to a 4×4 vehicle for the journey up the pass, as the road can be challenging.
Start the pass
Embark on the thrilling drive up the Sani Pass, a steep and winding mountain road that connects South Africa to Lesotho. Along the way, you’ll pass through incredible scenery, including waterfalls and alpine meadows. Your guide will provide information about the area’s flora, fauna, and history. You will also have time to stop for pictures and to take in the scenery
At the top of the Sani Pass, you will pass through the Lesotho border post then you’ll reach the Sani Mountain Lodge. This is home to the “Highest Pub in Africa.” Once here you can enjoy a traditional South African or Lesotho meal, take in the breathtaking views and interact with the local Basotho people.
Your guide will take you on a short visit to a nearby Basotho village, where you can learn about the traditional lifestyle, culture, and crafts of the local people. This is a unique opportunity to connect with the local community.
Time permitting you may drive to the Highest point of the mountain, Black mountain pass, for breath taking views.
In the afternoon you will begin your journey back down the Sani Pass, once again enjoying the stunning views along the way.
